Adventure Travel: Kayaking Down the El Fuerte River

Mexico kayaking trip is definitely one of those experiences worth adding to your bucketlist. Here's what you can expect when embarking on a kayaking adventure through El Fuerte River.

A Beautiful View

When traveling down the El Fuerte river, be sure to chek out the petroglyphs at Cerro de la Mascara in the "Secret Forest".

The Secret Forest is a result of efforts to save the disappearing forests running from Sinaloa State down to Panama. This bit of land is protected and devoted to educating children about the importance of preservation, guarding the animals, and how soil and water change and impact the environment.  The Secret Forest even has its own exhibit at El Fuerte Museum with pictures and video.

Here's a video (it's in Spanish but has English subtitles) that was filmed along the river and the surrounding forest. It'll give you a clearer idea of what the scenery will look like.

You can also observe the exotic birds that populate the area — the adorable squirrell cuckoo, the vibrant yellow social flycatcher, and the majestic great egret, for instance.
