Flying over Copper Canyon
Canyon Charter Flights
We've got some amazing flights over the canyons. One can now soar over the gold mines of Sauzal, Urique Canyon, Copper Canyon, Sinforosa Canyon and Batopilas Canyon.
Cost varies depending upon where you are flying from and to, but a good estimate is about $1,500US per plane. Planes are Cessnas and hold 5 passengers with a small carry-on luggage per person. We recommend one of the flights detailed below as they can be attached to your existing package to make your trip unforgettable.
Please note that in order to arrange the flights, one of our guides or one of our drivers MUST be with you wherever you are in order to organize logistics. For example: Flying out of the Batopilas area is wonderful and can be arranaged by a tour into Batopilas with driver/guide, and then fly out of the canyon to either Divisadero, El Fuerte or Chihuahua. This way you drive in/fly out and get the best of the area as well as cutting down travel time enormously.
One must be flexible for this option to be any fun as departure times all depend upon the weather, thermal air pockets and wind. If flights are cancelled due to inclement weather, then other arrangements will be made to get you to your destination.
Divisadero from the air
Batopilas to Divisadero:
You'll go down the switch back road into Batopilas Canyon with your driver and/or
guide and spend a few days in this old silver mining village. Then your luggage
leaves the day before in the vehicle in order to make it to your hotel in Divisadero.
You'll fly in and check into a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the canyon OR if you are only a few people and have small, carry-on luggage as for a normal commercial flight, we can send you, luggage and all onto Divisadero in one go.
Flying towards ChihuahuaTake a guided tour down to Batopilas on the switchback roads, complete with Deluxe Discada, and then fly out over Batopilas and Copper Canyon to Chihuahua City. You can do a City Tour there, spend the night and fly out on your commercial flight the next day, or plan a late afternoon flight out of Chihuahua and you can do it all in one day. Just let us know when you begin your package design with us that you'd like to include this flight or something similar.
Flying over Huites Dam near El FuerteBatopilas to El Fuerte:
Flying into and out of Los Mochis? We'll start your ground package from Los Mochis or El Fuerte, send you through the Copper Canyon and end your trip by sending you off to Batopilas Canyon by vehicle. Rather than back track for several days to return to Los Mochis for your commercial flight out, why not fly out of Batopilas and straight to El Fuerte in a matter of one hour on a charter flight? You'll fly over Batopilas, Urique and Copper Canyons, arriving in El Fuerte in time for a River Tour, Kayak Tour or lunch before your flight leaves from Los Mochis that very day. Save time and money and see the canyons from above!
As of this writing (October 2010), there are a few flights per week from/to the El Fuerte area to/from the Batopilas/Divisadero or Guachochi areas. The pilot has started flying this route weekly now to see how it goes and is charging only around $300USD per person per flight. This is considerably cheaper than having to charter the plane privately so will be a great option for individuals or couples.

Divisadero to El Fuerte:
This is a favorite with our Cruise line customers that dock in Topolobampo. You can fly from El Fuerte to Divisadero, stop for photos and some sightseeing, fly back to El Fuerte, have
lunch, do a River Tour or Kayak Tour and then head back to your ship...All in one
day.
